Net Zero Teesside is a Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) project, based in Teesside in the North East of England. It aims to decarbonise a cluster of carbon-intensive businesses by as early as 2030 and deliver the UK’s first zero-carbon industrial cluster. Working in partnership with local industry and with committed, world class partners, the Project plans to capture up to 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent to the annual energy use of over 3 million UK homes.
https://www.netzeroteesside.co.uk/In 2018, greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland were the net equivalent of 41.6 million tonnes of CO2[1]. Of these, 11.9 million tonnes of CO2 were emitted by industry. Work in Phase 1 of the Roadmap mapped these emissions and showed that around 80% lie within a corridor highlighted in blue on the map, which covers Lothian in the south, through to Grangemouth (3.8 million tonnes) in the Central Belt to St Fergus (2.3 million tonnes) in the North East of Scotland. It is these emissions that SNZR is focusing on.

By supporting and safeguarding existing jobs, creating at least 33,000 new jobs and attracting over £4 billion investment, Net Zero North West will be a catalyst for economic growth.

The South Wales Industrial Cluster (SWIC), a partnership between Welsh industry, energy suppliers, infrastructure providers, academia, legal sector, service providers and public sector organisations, has been awarded £1.5million from UKRI’s Industrial Decarbonisation programme to map what is needed to support South Wales in becoming a net zero carbon region by 2050.
